The Secret History by Donna Tartt

I literally just finished The Secret History by Donna Tartt and now I’m terribly upset and I can’t even say why, ah! I didn’t see the turmoil in the hotel room at the end of the book coming at all, though I don’t know what i expected. I knew something would have to happen to bring the story to an end, but oh.. It just really surprised me.

What I didn’t like was the whole deal with the bits and pieces of foreign languages throughout the whole story, at least in my copy, there was no translation given at all. Sorry, no, I do not speak Greek or Latin. I don’t think I missed anything important and it is a nice idea, even story related, but it’s a bit useless if there’s no translation, hm? There was a bit of German too, Kaffeeklatsch (coffee chat) for example, which I thought was hilarious, because it’s such an odd word to have in your vocabulary.
